According to a report on KCRG-TV, channel 45 in Dubuque, a study at Temple University concluded that folks who followed the Atkins low-carb approach lost approximately the same weight as those who followed a more traditional low-fat diet.  In addition, a study at Harvard tracked dieters using four separate plans.  The plans featured different amounts of fat, carbohydrates and protein.  This study agreed that, as long as overall calories were reduced, one diet was not better than the others.  Both studies covered a two year period.  The report concluded that dieters are best served when they choose a plan that works meets their personal preferences, as long as it follows healthy guidelines.
